We at PNOY Apparel reinvented the Barong. Taking a Philippine legend and giving it a modern twist. We’ve taken pieces of the traditional Barong tagalog and blended it with the modern Filipino life style on the go. No longer just for formal occasions, our version titled “The Pops” can be worn in clubs, business meetings, or on a date. Or you can casual it up by rolling up the sleeves, rock it unbuttoned with a white tee, and pairing it with camouflage shorts…BOOM! But you can rock “The Pops” just about any where you want to look fly. Its elements of the traditional Barong tagalog meets guayabera meets YOU!
The details are ridiculous. The embroidery work is cross bones from afar, but taking a closer look, they are two cross hatching barong swords!
Full Details Include:
- Full embroidered cross swords on front and back
- Four welted pockets
- Coconut shell buttons
- Tone on tone PNOY Apparel sun logo on bottom of garment
- Embroidered PNOY Apparel tag with description of origin of the Barong
- 100% cotton canvas for a slightly heaver feel
- LIMITED 70 Pieces ONLY!

The Barong tagalog is the official formal garment of the Philippines. Woven with hand-loomed pineapple leaf fibers, it is a lightweight, transparent garment worn at weddings, black tie events, political gatherings, movie premieres, etc. Before the Barong was adopted as the formal attire of the Philippines, legend stated that the Spainards forced Filipinos to wear the Barongs to prevent them from hiding any weapons through the translucent fibers. Filipinos were also forced to wear them untucked to distinguish between ruling classes.
